Welcome to Malling Community Centre

Malling Community Centre is a welcoming space at the heart of a vibrant Lewes community —a place to relax, connect, and take part in a wide range of activities for all ages and abilities.

Our vibrant event spaces host a variety of community-run classes and groups, from parent and baby sessions, and coffee mornings for older residents, to charity fundraisers, and sports clubs.

Looking for a venue? Our spacious main hall, dividable small hall, and other facilities are available to hire—perfect for parties, sports clubs, training sessions, meetings, and more. A licensed bar can also be provided on request.

Malling Community Centre was built in the early 1970s and has been extended twice since – once to provide sports changing facilities and once to provide a popular social club. Part of the building now houses East Sussex Children’s Services Family Hub, and the remaining community space is used for a host of activities and events.

Lewes Town Council began a comprehensive refurbishment of the centre in 2020, which saw it modernised and given a whole new lease of life. The centre re-opened in 2021 and now hosts local groups, meetings and one-off events.

We are proud to partner with local brewery Only With Love who rent the central cafe space, the Lewes Brewcafe.

It is popular with children’s groups, exercise groups and social occasions.

Small Hall

The unique Small Hall is a dividable space that can be used as two small halls or one larger one.

Both have several large windows, and the dividing wall muffles any sound. Heating comes through to the soft lino floor via underfloor heating from ground source heat pump, making it a flexible space that can be used for meetings, small exercise classes, children’s parties and other group meetings and socials.

The capacity of Small Hall one is 106 standing and 36 seated at tables and chairs. For Small Hall two capacity is 96 standing and 26 at tables and chairs.

The combined Small Hall has a capacity of 200 standing and 70 at tables and chairs.
