Lewes Town Council is excited to present our Annual Report for the financial year 2024 to 2025.

Lewes Town Council is the most local form of government for residents of Lewes, East Sussex. The council exists to represent residents, and enhance quality of life in the town, meaning that council tax is invested straight back into the local community. The money Lewes Town Council receives in council tax is used for the services and support to Lewes residents, and to maintain the places the Town Council looks after.

The council has not produced an Annual Report since the pandemic, and we’re excited to share news of what we’ve been doing in the past year across the areas we look after, which include:

  • Civic life
  • Allotments
  • Grants
  • Open spaces and heritage
  • Community services
  • Community venues

The financial year 2024 to 2025 has been the fiftieth year Lewes Town Council has been in existence. The council was created by a Local Government Act that came into force in 1974. At the end of 2024, a new devolution plan for England was initiated, which could spell change and growth for Lewes Town Council in the future as town and parish councils become the only local form of representation, alongside an evolution of the services and places we look after for the town. We’re excited to build on the work we’re doing as the plans develop.

Enjoy!
